Hi Teacher :) can u help me with these two questions? Hi Angela, for the first question, the lean burn engine which has higher amount of air compared to fuel has higher amount of oxygen present in the air. Hence, it will give a more complete combustion of fuel, thus, producing lesser CO and NO gases. The catalytic converter can also convert these gases more efficiently to less harmful gases since the amount of CO and NO produced is lesser in a lean burn engine. For the second question, the answer given is correct. Perhaps u can be more precise by stating that sulfur dioxide is an acidic oxide that dissolves in rain water to form acid rain which corrodes limestone structures & buildings & kills marine lives & plants. Sulfur dioxide is also a gas that irritates eyes & causes breathing difficulties. Got it? ????
